We've been shopping! And I must say, what an Aladdin's cave is a trophy shop. Margaret and I were quite overcome by the twinkling of crystal and shiny silver. So much so, that we thought it would be nice for all those on the short list for the Exeter Novel Prize to have something as a memento. I know it's 2015 now but the competition was only open for entries during 2014. We aren't alone in appearing to be a year behind. The Costa Prize is awarded at the end of January in the year following, and if they can do it, so can we. Our judge, literary agent Broo Doherty is taking her choice very seriously and we are very excited about the short list. It will be posted HERE on 1st February. While we were in the shop, we ordered the trophies for the Exeter Story Prize. Go HERE for all the information about that. Trisha Ashley has chosen the very impressive iceberg for her award for a humorous story. The other trophy is for the winner of the whole competition. They look so attractive I'm tempted to put them both on my mantelpiece until the award ceremony. I promise I won't. On second thoughts, I suspect they might make me feel envious of everyone who can enter.
