Recently, I had a little flurry of emails wishing me a happy anniversary. They came as a surprise, as I didn't know which anniversary it could be, but the news had come via the ever-watchful Linkedin. I had completely failed to notice that CreativeWritingMatters had turned five years old. Five! How did that happen? Now I'm not a fan of Linkedin, of any of the social media platforms in particular (although L. does send me a list of hilariously inappropriate jobs I might like every now and then), but the good thing about an anniversary is that it does make you reflect. I'm not going to list our achievements but they are many, both individually and collectively. What really makes me happy, is how well the three of us work together. We don't always agree - especially when it comes to judging - but we value each others opinions, and we are understanding and appreciative of each others skills, so we don't tread on our respective toes. Here's to the next five years, Sophie and Margaret! Talking of judging, we are excitedly awaiting the short list for the 2015 Exeter Novel Prize from our judge, literary agent, Broo Doherty. The award ceremony is on Saturday 12th March when we will be finding out who will take home the big trophy. The award ceremony is a public event held in the historic St Stephen's church in Exeter High St. Everyone is welcome and we'd be pleased to chat about any aspect of our work. We will also be launching our winners' anthology from last year's short fiction competitions. More about that soon!
